Paterson, NJ, is thrilled to welcome a new soccer team as the iconic NY Cosmos make the historic Hinchliffe Stadium their home. This exciting development is a significant victory for Silk City, playing a major role in our community's revival and bringing Paterson back into international conversations. The arrival of the Cosmos not only enhances our city's cultural landscape but also strengthens our presence on the global stage.

There was a big Cosmos press event at Hinchliffe Stadium and it was a landmark moment for the community and soccer fans alike. Held at one of the country's most historic stadiums, the event brought together players, fans, and media to celebrate the team’s vision and future.

Hinchliffe Stadium, one of our recently restored gems with deep roots in sports history, served as the perfect backdrop. The Cosmos used the occasion to highlight their commitment to the sport and the local community, emphasizing their plans to inspire the next generation of athletes.

The event featured speeches from team executives, appearances by players, and a showcase of upcoming initiatives. Fans were treated to exclusive merchandise, photo ops, and a sneak peek at the team’s strategy for the upcoming season. The energy was electric, with the crowd buzzing about the team’s ambitions and the stadium’s revival.

This press event wasn’t just about soccer—it was about bringing people together and honoring the legacy of a venue that has meant so much to Paterson. It marked a new chapter for the Cosmos and the city, uniting tradition with forward-thinking goals.

Under the leadership of new majority owner Baye Adofo-Wilson, a Paterson native, Cosmos will compete in USL League One. Former Italian national team star and North Jersey native Giuseppe Rossi is both a club investor and the Head of Soccer. The club also plans to field a women's professional team soon and is committed to youth development, demonstrating a strong dedication to the communities of Paterson, Passaic County, and North Jersey.

The Cosmos will rejoin the competition for the 2026 season, participating in USL League One, a rapidly expanding league in the third tier of the U.S. professional soccer pyramid. The Cosmos' Paterson era will focus on community engagement and reflecting North Jersey's ambition and diversity. Led by Mr. Rossi, the club will prioritize youth development and promote inclusivity and access around Hinchliffe Stadium and in American soccer.

North Jersey Pro Soccer has successfully acquired the Cosmos’ intellectual and physical property, as well as their rich history and heritage, from New York Cosmos LLC. This entity has been under the control of Rocco B. Commisso since January 2017. Despite this acquisition, New York Cosmos LLC will continue to hold a minority ownership stake in the club, maintaining a connection to its legacy.
